Smart Scheduling

The algorithm that knows when to show you what.

Kraemon runs FSRS-5 — the most accurate open spaced-repetition algorithm available — to schedule each topic at precisely the moment your memory needs reinforcing.

Why most revision doesn't work

Rereading notes feels productive, but the research is clear: passive re-reading produces almost no long-term retention. The brain only consolidates a memory when it's forced to retrieve it — and timing those retrievals is everything.

Revise too soon and you waste time on material you already know. Leave it too long and the memory fades before the exam. The window of optimal review is surprisingly narrow.

  • Re-reading only: most of what you learn fades within a week
  • Retrieval practice: ~50% more recalled one week later (Roediger & Karpicke, 2006)
  • FSRS-5 times each retrieval at the moment it strengthens memory most

Intervals grow automatically as a topic moves toward mastery. Rate it HARD and the interval shortens. Rate EASY and it extends. The algorithm adapts to you.

One honest tap does all the work

After each revision topic, you rate how much you recalled. That's it. Kraemon takes your rating and recalculates the optimal review date for that topic — recalling less shortens the interval, recalling more extends it.

No flashcard content to write. No question banks to build. Just study your topic using whatever materials you have, then tell Kraemon how it went.

  • Recalled very little — review soon, in 1–2 days
  • Recalled the main points — normal progression, review in a week or so
  • Recalled it fully — push it back, review in 2–4 weeks
  • Intervals adjust to your performance over time

The science

Why FSRS-5?

FSRS (Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler) is an open-source algorithm developed through large-scale analysis of millions of real learner reviews. Version 5 is the most accurate version to date, outperforming both the older SM-2 algorithm and Anki's default scheduler on prediction accuracy.

Medical students use spaced repetition to learn thousands of drug names and dosages. Kraemon brings exactly the same approach to GCSE revision — at no cost.
